Yes, it can snow, but snowfall is typically light and fleeting, turning Sedona’s red rock landscape into a stunning winter wonderland. You might experience snow two or three times in the winter, but the flakes don’t stick around for long, creating just enough of a seasonal mood without the burdens of icy roads or daily shoveling.

Summer: Hot, but Manageable

Relocating to a desert environment means you should be prepared for Sedona’s summer heat, which runs from June through August. Average highs during this time range between 90°F to 100°F. However, Sedona’s elevation—about 4,500 feet above sea level—keeps the heat more tolerable than lower-elevation Arizona cities like Phoenix. Plus, Sedona’s famed monsoon season typically kicks in during late summer, bringing short bursts of heavy rain and cooler temperatures in the afternoon and evenings. Summer rain in Sedona is more than just a break from the heat—it adds drama to the skies and showcases the beauty of desert storms.
